Polar s720i と macbook

駅伝見て箱根熱があがっているところですが。

結論から書いておきます。
まだmacbookではs720iからデータを取り込むことができてません。

IrSTICKを頂いたので(感謝)、s720iとの接続を試みました。
OS X用のドライバはないので、すでにインストールしてあるParallels＋WindowsXP SP2からトライ。ParallelsでIrDA Bridgeを生かすと、XPには標準でIrSTICK用のドライバが入っているのでWindowsからは赤外線ポートとして認識されます。が、Polar Precision Performance SWからはそのまま見えない(だったような...)。IrCOMM2kで仮想comポート(com3)にして、PPPSWからcom3を選んで見ても、繋がりそうなそぶりは見せつつも繋がらず。

If using a non-Polar USB IrDA device, check if the device contains a SIGMATEL chipset (info can be found in the windows device manager). There is an incompatability with the S-series S610i, S710i, S720i, S810i models and the Sigmatel chipset. Brands that we have found with this chipset are the BAFO, Spirit, Sitecom CN-100 V2 and Belkin F5U235au.

Why doesn’t My Polar Heart Rate Monitor Work With My IrDA Adapter?
There is a known timing issue between these two devices that has not been solved as of yet. In some cases, the devices may talk to each other. but in most instances, they will not. We have introduced a new line of controllers that has a greater level of compatibility with the Polar Heart Rate Monitor.

ということで、IrSTICKも使ってるSigmatelのstir4200チップセットを使ったUSB-IrDAはs720iとしゃべれない、と。おそらくIrDA側のハードウェア的な話のようなので、仮にOS X用のドライバを書いてもしゃべるのは不可能ぽい。

などXP+PPPSW以外の環境でも同じこと。IrSTICKはあきらめざるをえないと...


で、Polar IrDA-RS232C＋RS232C-USBが現実的な解なわけですが、「POLAR純正でない赤外線インターフェースでデータ通信」で紹介されているアイアール★チョップ(stir4210チップセット使用)に期待。製造中止のようで買えるかどうか不明ですが。Sigmatelのサイトにstir4210チップセット用のOS X用ドライバもあるのでpolar-linuxあたりも使えそうな予感。
